During March and April, the County, Town, and City, along with South32 (collectively, the “CPBA Signatories”) continued progress on both the Early Actions Community Investment Agreement and planning for the broader-CPBA. Work focused on cooperative learning about possible protections, building foundations for further agreement.
What We Worked On
Early Actions Community Investment Agreement
The CPBA Signatories finalized the Early Actions Community Investment Agreement in March, which led to its adoption in separate public meetings. Representatives of each Signatory are working together to advance the agreed upon scopes of work to potentially be ready for funding and execution in 2026.
Future CPBA Planning (Next Stage of Agreement)
Signatories continue to work towards the next stage of the CPBA. Conversations focused on building upon the Early Actions Community Investment Agreement framework while considering protections and community priorities.
Spheros Environmental was selected as the independent expert dedicated to helping the signatories implement the CPBA Protections Roadmap (full roadmap report available at www.cpba-hermosa.org). The selection process involved a thorough review of proposals, with consensus reaching in favor of Spheros. As the independent environmental consultant for the CPBA, Spheros will provide expertise and recommendations in accordance with the updated Protections Roadmap (summary shown below.)
